LiveAsk turns a spoken question into an answer on your iPhone. By default everything happens on the phone. There is no LiveAsk account, no LiveAsk server, and no analytics.
Microphone and audio
LiveAsk uses the microphone only while listening is switched on. Audio is transcribed and discarded. Nothing is ever recorded to a file.
Transcription
Speech is turned into text on your iPhone by Apple's speech framework. The first time you use a language, iOS downloads its speech model once. That download is the system's, not ours.
Answers
- On this iPhone (the default). Answers are written by Apple's on-device model. Your questions do not leave the device.
- OpenAI or OpenRouter (optional). Only if you choose one in Settings and add your own key. Your questions, any notes and answer instructions you add, and recent questions and answers used for follow-ups are sent to OpenAI, or to OpenRouter and then to the model you pick. Transcription still happens on your iPhone. Those services handle that data under their own privacy policies.
Keys
An API key you add is kept in this iPhone's keychain, available only when the device is unlocked, not in backups and not on other devices. LiveAsk sends it only to the provider it belongs to. You can remove it in Settings.
Sessions and settings
Your sessions (questions and answers), notes and settings are stored on this iPhone only. You can delete sessions in the app, and deleting the app deletes them. There is no copy elsewhere. If you share a session as Markdown, you choose where it goes.
Analytics and tracking
None. LiveAsk has no analytics, no accounts, no ads and no third-party SDKs, and its privacy manifest declares no collected data. This website has no trackers and sets no cookies.
